Can you believe we at the top of another year…I personally am in shock but I am happy to have made it to the New Year. So Happy New Year! Reflecting on my list last year, I did get to do a few of my goals and I’m completely okay knowing that I didn’t get to knock them all off.
But I’m so extremely grateful to have this year to make some new goals and really try my best to reach them. One thing I have really shown myself recently is grace while I’m navigating this life. This is all still a really hard time in itself and I don’t need to be that hard or unforgiving to myself too, because truly, what good will any of that bring? Here are a few goals of mine for 2021.
1. Going to Therapy
Listen, my mental health was damn near non-existent but I made it through! Last year I said I was looking for a therapist and I did…but I got scared and abandoned the whole thought of one? But anyways we trying again this year! I have been scrolling through Therapy for Black Girls and found a few that I may be a good fit! I’m actually so excited and can’t wait to continuously better myself with the help of a professional.
2. Setting Aside More Time for Daily Self-Care
Daily? Yes, daily! Self-care shouldn’t be reserved just for one day out of the week. I’ve been using my Savor Beauty Planner (not for the few weeks I been on break though and that’s okay!) to help me organize my “gorgeous chaos” and try to schedule in some me time. It really emphasizes on infusing self-care into your daily routine, so one week it could be journaling and meditating in the mornings, the next could be eating your fave delicious breakfast. The point is to be more intentional during your days and do something specifically for you, whatever that may look like. Check out another really cute self-care planner here.
3. Stretching Every Day
Something so simple and important! When I was attending pole class, I was stretching everyday and could tell my body was really enjoying it. I was increasing my flexibility and my body was feeling right! But listen the way I barely rolled my neck last year is something I feel everyday. Stretching can help relieve your body of tension and is great to do before bed to help your muscles relax. My boyfriend bought me a yoga strap last Christmas and I need to put it into more use!
4. Being Consistent
A lot of times anxiety and my imposter syndrome will grab a hold of me and make me feel like I should just stop doing whatever it is I have the intention of doing. And sometimes I get so overwhelmed, because I decide to do 10 things at once, and I’ll shutdown completely for a nice period of time. From content creating to Aysiab.com, consistency is something I have struggled with for years. But I know with these goals of mine I want to achieve, I have to constantly show up for myself and be consistent in doing so. I have to set up a plan that will help me stay consistent without feeling overwhelmed and another plan for when those negative feelings arise.
I would love to know some of your New Year goals! Leave a comment and let me know 🙂
